Merry Christmas to all

It was an epic holiday in the Lyles household, complete with a new pet.  Wiz the lizard (leopard gecko) was the only thing Spencer asked for on his Christmas list, and has been consistently asking about it for 6 months straight.  So we took the plunge and obliged his serious request.  Justine was thrilled with a (new-to-her) play kitchen and fun toys -- and she even seemed somewhat into the new clothes I bought her too, while Spencer literally threw them to the side.

A few highlight quotes of the season included:
- Insisting that the baby hand print ornaments for the Christmas tree were not made by him.  "These are animal prints!!" -- and apparently not human.
- After getting a lip smacker chapstick in his Solstice Fairy pouch (yes, that's what they have at his preschool for the holiday celebration), he declared, "I need my make up!  Give me that chop-stick, Mom"

And here's the photo evidence:

Two ice skating trips with grandma Dianne (Justine played at the park the first time, but actually joined in for a minute on the second trip and loved it)

End of summer 2018 and a trip to Maryland

Things have been busy lately but we've been having a great time.  The (pre)school year has started again with Spencer in the "Sun Bear" classroom, and Justine is basically a little girl these days.  We also got to see both sets of grandparents recently for a work trip to DC and a visit from the Lyles from Arizona.

Some gems from Spencer lately:
"It's a good that I don't live in the grassland...Because cheetahs live in the grassland....Great, just great."
"When are we going to move closer to Finn?  So the doctor can't find me." (Not a fan of the doctor and especially not shots)
"I have to learn how to cook for when I go to college" (no idea how he put that one together)

And Justine:
- Can sign a ton more words after spending a long weekend with her grandparents including: more, milk, thank you, dog, eat, please, hot, chicken, orange, Spencer, and (kind of) I love you.  (As a comparison, Spencer was most interested in the sign for wrestling to wrangle with Grandpa Ric)
- Loves to race her brother (and battle him)
- Can climb up the slide herself in addition to climbing the ladder to go down the slide
- Loves peek-a-boo and Pat a Cake
- Almost has enough hair for a top ponytail

First day of school 2018 (promptly puked at pick-up time to make the start of the school year memorable)
 Lil popsicle
Redhead cutie in our makeshift tub
Sibling fun - they love sitting on the couch and forts made from the couch pillows
 Park time!
Eating a plum from the tree in our backyard
 They both love their books
City hike at San Bruno (with some type of Golum-face from Spencer about his rock)
 Pony time
Our trip to MD included:
Battle time with the cousins and uncle
A slightly more civilized picture with cousins
 Pool time with Grammie
 Park time with Grandpa John
Kayaking with Cheverly friends at Quiet Waters Park
A pit stop in the cockpit since our flight home was super delayed

And then...more battling with Grandpa Ric after we arrived back in SF
